Anyone can now spin up a convincing "photo" of a temple they never visited. That makes a real, dated, on-the-ground photo one of the few honest signals left that a guide actually went. So we hold our images to the same standard as our prices and verdicts.
The promise
- 📷Shot by us, on the ground. Nearly every image across this site was taken by us in person during real visits to Osaka & Kansai in 2025 and 2026.
- 🚫No AI images — ever. We never generate, "imagine," or AI-enhance a scene. If it's on the page, it existed in front of a real camera.
- 🚫No stock photos. No Shutterstock, Getty, or Unsplash filler dressed up as first-hand experience.
- 🗓️Dated where it matters. Many captions show the month we took the shot — e.g. "Our photo, April 2026." When a photo was taken is part of whether you can trust it: a photo shot in spring won't be captioned as autumn, and an afternoon shot won't be passed off as an empty early morning.
- 📍Your privacy and ours. We strip GPS and location metadata from every image before it's published, so our photos never leak where anyone lives or stands.
- 🤝The only exceptions, always labeled. A small number of images come from our booking partner (Klook) and are clearly credited "Image: Klook." We never present a partner image as our own.

Why we bother
We're a small, independent site, not a content farm. The moat isn't scale — it's that we actually go, actually pay the entry fees, and actually take the pictures. Dating our photos and crediting the rare exception is how we keep that promise checkable instead of just claimed.
